CHEYENNE ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS | Elisa & Clayton

We live in SUCH a gorgeous state! We always look forward to taking Cheyenne engagement photos because there are just so many absolutely amazing locations to choose from. Elisa and Clayton wanted something natural, in an outdoor mountain setting. What could be even BETTER than that? Sprinkling in a little bit of wintry snow!

For their Cheyenne engagement photos we chose to visit some of our favorite places in the Happy Jack and Curt Gowdy State Park areas. We were on the lookout for that gorgeous wide open country that Wyoming is so perfect for. This session is filled with amazing pines, snow capped hills and oh yeah a couple who is obviously head over heels in love with one another.

Can we just take a moment to talk about Elisa’s skirt though?! #engagementphotogoals for sure, so stylish especially when the breeze would catch the hem. We were just so in love with how effortless and beautiful their love was. We would find an amazing background, pose these two in close and then just watch the magic happen. They were so easy to pose, super natural and made our jobs as photographers super easy.

Love that these two chose to do their engagement session in winter! Rick and I love to photograph in the snow however we don’t see a lot of Cheyenne engagement photos taken in the winter. For adventurous couples who don’t mind braving the elements with us, I really do think it adds a bit of special! Calm snowy days are RARE here in Wyoming, even if you have only lived here for a little while you know that WY doesn’t really do the whole gently falling snow thing. We are experts however at the wind higher than the speed limit blizzard thing lol.

Elisa and Clayton, your love is so inspiring! With God as your foundation we cannot wait to see what He has in store for you two. We are so thrilled to get to call you clients and even more blessed to get to call you friends. Working with you has been an absolutely pleasure and we are so happy that you decided to go with our little wedding photography company! Now on a serious note, let me know where you got that fantastic skirt from so that I can go buy it in every color lol.

Don’t you just LOVE that wide open Wyoming country? Love the snow on the mountains, that gorgeous golden rod color palette and that breeze that is making Elisa’s dress blow.

Close up photo of the bride looking at the camera and the groom snuggling in. Photographed during their Cheyenne WY engagement photo session.

Sometimes we joke with our clients that it is ALL ABOUT THE BRIDE. This photo taken during their Cheyenne engagement photos totally demonstrates that concept lol. PS totally obsessed with how amazing Elisa’s hair is!

Classic portrait of our bride and groom to be. Features the engaged couple during their Cheyenne engagement photos taken in Vedauwoo Wyoming.

No Cheyenne engagement photo session is complete without a beautiful classic portrait of the bride and groom to be. Aren’t Elisa and Clayton just totally made for one another? Totally natural in front of the camera, they make it look so effortless!

Photo of a Wyoming bride holding evergreens and a gorgeous engagement ring in her hands. Taken during their Cheyenne engagement photos.

You guys have NO idea how cold it was for Elisa & Clayton’s Cheyenne engagement photos. I had the lovely idea to have Elisa hold her engagement ring along with some lovely evergreen sprigs. In the short time that I worked on this concept she was absolutely freezing but up for a challenge. Kudos goes to her for sure for this amazing photo!

When I moved from Colorado to Wyoming a while back it took me some time to get used to the difference in scenery. I can honestly say however that I have fallen for the pines we have here in WY big time. We like to shoot in front of them, layered behind them and in the case of this ring shot also smack dab in the middle of them!

Black and white photo of an engaged couple. This photo was taken in between Laramie and Cheyenne for their engagement photos.

These two started out their Cheyenne engagement session by telling us they would definitely need some help with posing. I lovingly called them out as liars during their session as they posed for photo after photo effortlessly. They were so comfortable in front of the camera and totally made our job super easy…

I was absolutely dying over how gorgeous Elisa’s skirt was! The color was beautiful and coordinated with our scenery without being too much of a match. The length was so elegant on her and the way it tied was super cute. #engagementphotoattire goals for sure! PS: Clayton’s sweater was very nice too…. PPS: totally digging that bit of Vedauwoo rock making an appearance in their background!

Sweet couple during their engagement session share a kiss. This photo was taken during their Wyoming engagement photo session.

Meet the ARDENT ‘slow kiss’… That moment right BEFORE the kiss. Filled with anticipation, romance and passion. Photographically, kissing is more smushy noses than romance so we definitely time our photos to capture our couples going in for the kiss!

Wild windblown formal portrait of an engaged couple. Photographed in natural areas in between Laramie WY and Cheyenne WY.

When given stunning Wyoming landscapes to work with, black and white is always a good call. Something so timeless and beautiful about this style.

Engaged couple cuddle in getting warm during their Wyoming engagement session. Wintry mountain scenery is in the background.

One of our FAVORITE things about photographing in the winter is how cuddly our couples get. Cuddling in for romance, you bet. Cuddling in because it is freezing out and body heat feels amazing? That’s probably more like it. Whether for romance or warmth these two were too cute and totally had their cuddle game down!

There is a distinct color that we get here in Wyoming. Beautiful golds and rich greens make up so much of our landscapes here. Cheyenne engagement photos are always such a treat and we love to really embrace that WY feel for sure.

Again with Elisa’s perfect hair. I swear its like she had her own personal stylist just following her around calming stray hairs and adding in that amazing volume. Oh and did we mention she is apparently able to perform hair spray magic? Even in our always crazy Wyoming wind her locks stayed put and looked better than ever.

THIS right here. This is why we are so spoiled here in Wyoming. Statuesque rock formations and that amazing Wyoming sky that never disappoints. Out of all the places we have called home, Wyoming is absolutely hands down my favorite. Aren’t our sunrises and sunsets the best?
