ELOPE IN WYOMING | Lisa & Curtis

Rick and I love photographing elopements. There is something so freeing for our clients to cast all the cares of a traditional day to the side and really spend their time focusing on what is most important to them on their wedding day. Often times we see elopements in scenic and destination locations like this Rocky Mountain National Park elopement for example. Sometimes it seems like the decision to elope in Wyoming might be less picturesque and harder to find amazing locations. Lisa & Curtis chose to say I do in Cheyenne, WY and let us be the first to tell you their amazing snow kissed landscapes and local Cheyenne, WY charm.

Plus these two totally get extra cool points for braving the wintry weather with us as we explored our favorite parts of Curt Gowdy and Happy Jack. We had so much fun exploring beautiful landscapes, photographing them cuddled up in the evergreens and they even had the fantastic idea of ending their day with a champagne toast!

Lisa & Curtis, we were completely touched and inspired by your love for one another. You made our job so fantastically easy as you really became lost in each other. It was an absolutely honor to be able to capture your love on film. We hope that these images will be a wonderful reminder of your time spent here in wintry Wyoming! Thank you for being awesome and choosing not only to elope in Wyoming, but also letting us be a small part of your big day!

Lisa’s uncle is the Bishop in Cheyenne, WY. When deciding where to elope in Wyoming they not only were able to take advantage of gorgeous mountain scenery but were also able to honor their faith and say their vows in a gorgeous private Catholic chapel.

Lisa was so stunning! She really does have the most genuine smile. We should all be this happy on our wedding days!

Because the chapel was inside of a private residence it was much smaller. There was one door at the back of the aisle and one door to the side of the altar. It was such a fun challenge to photograph this ceremony from the outside of the room only. We changed our lenses and our perspective often which led to some pretty cool creativity. Loved this shot from Rick, doesn’t it feel so photo journalistic?

Sweet quiet details like this are our favorite. Hands held during a ceremony and that gorgeous engagement ring, wowza!

The wedding bands being presented to the couple… I always love the way officiants describe the rings as a perfect circle with no end.

Can you believe this was taken from the doorway? These are some of the most timeless photos we take. Curtis will no doubt remember not only how their Wyoming elopement looked, but more importantly how it felt.

What a heart felt and genuine ceremony. Tears, the professing of vows and their forever and ever safe and sound in each others hands.

When clients decide where to elope in Wyoming they often think of wide open spaces that show our gorgeous landscape. In this case we absolutely went outside with these two for portraits but we chose to also spend some time inside this gorgeous house! Loved the beautiful light and the way this doorway silhouetted Lisa so nicely.

Just beyond that door was the most amazing staircase, AGAIN with gorgeous window light… *swoon*

The leading lines of the banister just draw your eye right to this amazing couple don’t you think?

The furnishings in the Bishops residence were so elegant and classic, we couldn’t help but incorporate them into many of their portraits!

When deciding to elope in Wyoming it can be tough to plan attire. Seems like we can have one gorgeous day, followed by snow, followed by hurricane winds sometimes. Ok so it isn’t nearly THAT bad but it is so special that Lisa and Curtis chose to brave the cold with us in their wedding attire!

Being winter in Wyoming we chose to really embrace the gorgeous evergreens we sometimes take for granted. Warm in their coats and even warmer cuddled in with each other. It didn’t take very long for these two to forget we were even there!

Isn’t every mountain landscape just more stunning when draped in snow? Perk of deciding to elope in Wyoming? Those gorgeous wide open spaces. For Curtis this is definitely something that he wanted to be present in their photos. So we tried to find the perfect place in Happy Jack to make that happen.

God blessed us with the most amazing light. Often times photographing in the winter means cloud cover. It just makes it that much more special when those golden rays come out to play! Lisa is so fierce here don’t you think?

Ok so #truestory Lisa might be the coolest wife ever. Not only are those super sweet Star Wars cufflinks (super cool right) but she also secretly arranged to have the theme some play as they made their way down the aisle. How amazing is that?

Love that these two decided to have some portraits taken without their coats. Don’t they just look wonderful together!

The Ardent slow kiss… we should patent this lol. Love that moment right before the kiss!

Perk of choosing to elope in Wyoming during the winter? Gorgeous pine tree ring shots like this one. Their wedding rings were so unique. Love how masculine and feminine they are. Curtis did SUCH a great job on Lisa’s engagement ring. It is so stunning!

Snowy slow kiss take two. Curt Gowdy is just the most magical snow swept background for these two. Their photos are so romantic.

Curtis looks so classic and that light colored tie is such a great finishing touch.

One of the things you have to just embrace if you choose to elope in Wyoming is the wind. Many times our brides wear their hair up but there is also something special and wild about long gorgeous hair like Lisa’s blowing gently in the wind. Its just so real and adventurous.

Wyoming elopement

These two planned a fantastic champagne toast for the end of their session. We found a quaint little spot on the edge of Happy Jack that made for the perfect background.

Cheyenne WY Elopement

Love how fun and spontaneous these are! Their expressions are so priceless!
