LARAMIE ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS | Mackenzie & Garrett – Downtown Laramie

Looking for some inspiration when it comes to Laramie engagement photos? Look no further because Mackenzie & Garrett pretty much planned the absolute best session ever. These two are a little bit city and a little bit mountain and wanted a session to be designed for them that reflected both. The mountain portion of their session was photographed in the Happy Jack area right outside of Laramie. It wasn’t until we were photographing on the day of that Mackenzie told us this area was actually where these two went on their first date!

When it comes to city sessions, Laramie engagement photos in this area usually involve downtown. There are murals galore, fire escapes and of course the downtown walking bridge. These two had something a little different in mind and we were totally there for it! Garrett’s family owns and operates an iconic downtown bar that also just happens to be the place where he proposed to Mackenzie. Not only did they want some of their session in this drop dead gorgeous location but they also planned the perfect outfit change to match. Garrett donned a classic black suit with a thin black tie that will absolutely never go out of style. Mackenzie wore an absolutely stunning white satin dress that just transported her back to the silver screen era. Their outfits combined with the allure of this picture perfect space was such a treat to photograph.

We just love how real life and documentary these Laramie engagement photos are. Nowadays ‘fake real’ is totally a thing… look at each other like he said something romantic, hold on to her like you’ll never see her again, laugh like someone said something funny… the list goes on and on. But here’s the thing, REAL real is better than fake real every time. In these photos Garrett is looking in Mackenzie’s eyes like he is madly in love with her (because he is). He has a smile that says he wouldn’t want to be anywhere else than right there holding her hand. Mackenzie is laughing because he is spontaneous and fun oh and he IS the love of her life… These two are real life head over heels for each other and it shows 💕

Garrett’s Family own and operate Roxie’s On Grand. It has the most amazing food and upstairs there is the most amazing bar. This is where Garrett proposed to Mackenzie. How romantic is that?

We always ask our clients what kind of a feel are they looking for when it comes to their Laramie engagement photos? The inside of Roxie’s is AMAZING! Vintage Edison light bulbs are hung from the ceiling above their grand metal staircase. Vintage brick along the walls is highlighted by metal and neon signs in the windows that overlook downtown. These two even thought of an outfit change for this portion of the session. Isn’t Mackenzie’s white dress so old Hollywood glam? Garrett was also looking pretty dapper in a classic black tie and suit. Love that they had a specific outfit planned for each location.

The natural lighting there was so beautiful we couldn’t bear to add any additional flash. The warm tones of the ambient lighting was super romantic. We were completely spoiled with private VIP access to this gorgeous location!

When Mackenzie originally contacted us, she shared a few images that showed exactly what she wanted for here Laramie engagement photos. The images she sent had a bride to be with her long hair flowing freely in the wind. God blessed us with the perfect breeze for their session and her hair had no problem flowing freely during their session.

Black and white is a FAVE of ours when it comes to processing photos. This is the reason why all of our packages are delivered with all the images in both color and bw. For these Laramie engagement photos, black and white gave us such a cool, retro ‘mad men’ type of feel that we absolutely LOVED!

We often have clients who love the feel of a classy bar in all its vintage glory. We have done quite a few sessions like this but it is always so crowded. Being able to have this amazing space all to ourselves allowed us to really use our creativity to deliver Mackenzie & Garrett the Laramie engagement photos of their dreams!

Isn’t her engagement ring FLAWLESS? I myself am a solitaire type of girl when it comes to engagement rings. Her diamond was so clear, white and exceptional. Garrett outdid himself for sure!

The iron staircase leading up from downstairs was one of our favorite parts of this location. It gave us an amazing structure to pose these two on that was a bit of a break from the bar and brick settings. Love how documentary this image is, like a scene right out of a classic movie.

We just adored the leading lines we were able to use in their Laramie engagement photos. The whole place had such amazing style when it came to lighting placement. It was a real treat to photograph here.

What Downtown Laramie engagement photos would be complete without a few images on our town’s iconic streets. These were completely not posed and as real life as images get.

For a good portion of their session these two had a super cool serious vibe. For this shot however Garrett led Mackenzie across the downtown intersection RUNNING in heels. Love the genuine laughter in this. It is perhaps one of our absolute favorite Laramie engagement photos ever!
